About Us
Hi, I’m Carrie!
Owner of The Grace Collective. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (VA) and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (CA), but you might also call me a confidant or a wellness coach. With 13+ years of counseling experience, I’ve had the privilege to work in various levels of care such as inpatient, residential, crisis counseling, community-based services, outpatient counseling & more. I am a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist with the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals and also work and teach at Stanford University as an Eating Disorder Specialist.
I understand that the road to finding wellness and recovery can seem overwhelming. My goal as your Counselor is to create a safe space for you on your journey. I want you to feel comfortable sharing your discomfort with me so instead of just coaching you from the other side, I can be there with you. I’m here to remind you you’re not alone.
I work with people who seek clarity, peace, and long to live a balanced and whole life. Often clients I work with struggle with eating disorders, mood disorders like anxiety or depression, trauma & more. No matter what you’re struggling with, we’ll work together to find the best method that works for you.
Each client is unique, so I’ll tailor your counseling experience based on my educated expertise as well as coordinating with your Treatment Team. I recognize that you know yourself better than anyone else so we will look to your lived experience to guide the counseling process. I offer an eclectic approach based on your needs, whether its trauma informed, cognitive or dialectical therapy, or something else. We’ll work together so you have everything you need as you heal.
Hi, I’m Julie!
Thank you for taking the brave first step into exploring and understanding yourself. Engaging in the therapeutic process is such an important way for us to dig deeper into our past and present in order to create the future that we want to see. Sometimes it feels like the world is overwhelming and we have to carry around so much. I hope to help people to lighten their load by examining what it is that we are carrying, and how we can unpack it.
The world can be a healing place. Sometimes a walk outside, taking our shoes off and wiggling our toes in the grass, or even gazing out the window and watching the breeze flow through the trees can be healing. I like to help people use the environment around them as a calming agent, and build a toolkit of mindfulness-based coping skills that they can take with them and use wherever they are. Many of my interventions and approaches I offer include nature-based therapy. I always come with a trauma informed lens and offer a diverse range of strategies that, collaboratively, we can tailor for your own unique journey.
As an eco- and climate-informed therapist, I combine my backgrounds in Marine Science, Environmental Psychology, and Clinical Social Work to help folks who struggle with a wide range of concerns, including climate change or eco-anxiety/grief/depression. Sometimes global issues can impact our own lives and contribute to things like anxiety and depression, and even cause trauma and physical illness. I also have expertise working with clients who struggle with Eating Disorders, depression, anxiety, grief, and suicidal ideation.
I hope to work with individuals, youth and couples and to use a range of approaches tailored to each person’s needs. Meeting in the office and talking, virtually, having a session outside, or using art, music or movement are different ways to discover what helps us the most. I want to support people in building trust in themselves and to fortify their own resilience to stressors and past traumas in order to have healthy relationships with themselves, others, and the planet we live on.
Hi, I’m Rhett!
Meet Rhett VI, a lovable Labrador-Golden cross with a heart as golden as his fur. Before being adopted from Canine Companions, Rhett began his journey training as a service dog. However, it didn’t take long for his professional trainers to discover his true calling: spreading joy, comfort, and affection to everyone he meets. With an uncanny ability to sense when someone is in need of a little extra comfort, Rhett’s caring nature made him the perfect candidate to become a therapy dog.
Rhett is now training alongside his handler, Carrie Grabaskas, LPCC, CEDS. Their ultimate goal is to become a certified therapy dog team. Together, they are preparing to bring warmth and support to those who desire it in therapy sessions. We plan to officially welcome Rhett onto our therapy team in late Spring 2025 once the team is fully certified.
Rhett looks forward to making a paws-itive impact on countless lives!
